Congratulations to the authors of the winning Taradiddle Youth Writing Contest #5 stories! Thanks to the diligence of the Taradiddle Judges (there were so many good stories submitted!), we are excited to announce the authors of the winning stories in the latest writing contest about a Northern saw-whet owl. Did you know?  At our Book Buddies reading programs at City Dog Vet Clinic and Harmony at Grandview Commons Apartments, we have books available to read – thanks to the Madison Reading Project and our supporters. If there is a book your child enjoys, please feel free to take it home with you!

The Book Buddies Reading Program takes place…

every second Saturday of the month at City Dog Vet Clinic (1004 East Washington Ave. in Madison) from 9:30-11:25 am. Reserve a free 20-minute reading session here . 

Monthly on Saturdays at Meadowridge Library (5726 Raymond Rd. in Madison) from 10-11:30 am. The next one is on Saturday, April 20. Please stop by! 

Every second Tuesday at Harmony at Grandview Commons Apartments (116 Milky Way in Madison) from 5:30-7 pm. Please drop in!

The Keeping Pets and Animals Happy & Healthy Report 

During these past two months, ten American bald eagles were admitted to SOAR, an avian wildlife rehabilitation center based in Dedham, Iowa. All ten suffered from lead poisoning! Lead can be fatal to wildlife, especially to raptors. If you hunt or fish, or know of someone who does, please choose to use alternatives to bullets and tackle made with lead.
