Happy 12th visit to Eli!

This month, we celebrated Eli’s 12th visit to the Book Buddies reading program at the City Dog Vet clinic location.

Meet Kathy and Oliver!

Meet two of the newest Book Buddies, Kathy, and her dog, Oliver!

Here are some fun facts about Oliver!

Age: 4 years

Type of Dog: Australian Labradoodle

Favorite Treat: Cheese!

Favorite Trick: Shaking hands/paws

Favorite Activity: Chasing balls

Favorite Season: Winter! Oliver is not a big fan of heat.

Special Skill: Oliver is good at being himself, a really good dog!

Favorite Way to Relax: Sleeping on the front porch

Nickname: Ollie

Favorite Book Genre: Animal stories

We are delighted that Kathy and Oliver have joined the Book Buddies reading program! Kathy’s favorite part of volunteering as a registered therapy team with Oliver is meeting new people. On their off time, Kathy has fun taking Oliver to the dog park and stores. Oliver enjoys shopping!

The Book Buddies Reading Program takes place…

every second Saturday at City Dog Vet Clinic (1004 E. Washington Ave. in Madison) from 9:30-11:25 am. Reserve a free 20-minute reading appointment  here . 

On Thursday, October 3,  the Book Buddies will be in the Ironworks Building at the Goodman Community Center (206 Waubesa Street in Madison) from 5-8 pm for the Goodman Community Center’s START Literacy’s first This LIT Just Got Serious! film screening and symposium . Hope to see you there!

The Keeping Animals Happy & Healthy Report 

Imagine the fun if we could talk to dogs! Until science can find a way, we can learn to communicate with dogs by learning their body language cues. Award-winning author and illustrator Lili Chin’s book,  Doggie Language , will help you decide if that yawn is a sign that your dog needs more sleep or your dog is feeling stressed. Wonderfully illustrated and insightful, this is a great guide to understanding dogs better!
