Congratulations to Ava Claire and Simon! The dedicated two siblings recently celebrated their 12th visit to the Book Buddies reading program at the City Dog Vet clinic location. Meet Emilee Keppelmann! You might see a new face at the Book Buddies reading program. Emilee is our newest Volunteer Book Buddies Program Coordinator. A true animal lover, Emilee grew up with a German shepherd her parents rescued from a humane society. She currently has a Golden Doodle named Archie and two cats, Coco and Carmel. As a child, Emilee’s favorite author was, and still is, Roald Dahl.

Excited about her new role, Emilee feels that kids who might not have exposure to pets can find a safe spot in the reading program to build confidence and reading skills while developing a bond with a Book Buddy. Says Emilee, “Animals have an exceptional ability to provide unconditional love. They create a wonderful judgmental-free space for us.” Pictured above is Emilee with Book Buddy Tupelo Honey.

The Book Buddies Reading Program takes place…

every second Saturday at City Dog Vet Clinic (1004 E. Washington Ave. in Madison) from 9:30-11:25 am. Reserve a free 20-minute reading appointment here .

Every second Tuesday at Harmony at Grandview Commons Apartments (116 Milky Way in Madison) from 5:30-7 pm. Please drop in!

Every Monday between July 8 – August 19 at Meadowridge Library (5726 Raymond Road in Madison) from 4-5:30 pm. Please drop in!
